There are 56 marinas in Croatia, with 16.000 berths in the sea, 8.500 places in the land and with 30.000 more berths in harbors and sport harbors.
Marinas are continuously working on enriching and increasing the level of their service, trying to accommodate to the modern needs and wishes of nautical guests.
Many harbors of nautical tourism enhanced their contents: from top traditional cuisine to obligatory water and electricity, ambulance, charter services to apartment renting and electronic supervision and security for guests’ property and equipment.
Also, an increasing number of marinas are getting international Blue Flag, eco-label award for coastal and sea protection projects of the international Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which is being successfully implemented for 13 years.
Adriatic Croatia International Club, in nautical world well known as ACI Club, is the leading company of nautical tourism in Croatia, and is represented by chain of 21 marinas from South, where we have Dubrovnik, to Umag in the North of Croatian part of Adriatic Sea. In 22 years of management ACI marinas have recognizable architectural features, managed to popularize sailing, and develop higher quality of service.
The western coast of the peninsula, with its low hills, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. The beautiful historical port town, with numerous hotels, cottages and campsites, can accomodate hundreds of thousands of tourists. Even the harbours get very full during the summer months, neverthless they are good point of departure for inland trips. Those who prefer to drop the anchor in solitude should bear in mind that here uninhabited coves are very rare. The eastern coast (east of Kap Kamenjak) is less densely populated and offers fantastic landscapes.
Waters rich with beautiful islands. Here it is possible to choose between solitary anchorages and buzzing harbours such as Mali Lošinj, Rab, Krk and Cres.
This is very popular area for yachting. The sequence of islands, harbours and coves between Dugi Otok and Šibenik is the ideal backdrop for a sailing holiday in close touch with nature. The bare landscape of the Kornari islands, the river harbour of Skradin and the nearby Krka falls are some of the most popular tourist destinations.
Here harbours and coves are further apart from each other than in northern Dalmatia. The mountainous coast near Makarska is a sight of imposing beauty. A visit to the towns of Trogir and Split is strongly recommended fot their historical and architectural insterest.
Visit the beautiful historical town of Korčula and the very green island of Mljet, with its pleasant coves such as those of Okuklje and Polace. Dubrovnik can be reached easily stopping on the way at the Elafati islands, which benefit from a sub-tropical climate. Life seems to pass by very slowly in the slightly secluded Lastovo island.
