The most popular charter boats: Bavaria 46 Cruiser

In the continuation of the series of short blogs, we will present you the most popular charter boat from the moment of launch, the Bavaria 46 Cruiser.

The 2015 Bavaria 46 Cruiser was named "European Yacht of the Year", and the collaboration with sailboat designer Farr came to fruition.

Size and spaciousness is undoubtedly the first thing that will come to your mind if you have to describe this boat. A spacious cockpit with a centrally located folding table where six people can generally eat at the same time is increasingly crowded. The cockpit itself accommodates eight people. The cockpit, and so does the deck, has a handful of sunbathing and cruising space. As a big plus, we have to add a transom platform that is electric and movable and serves as a sundeck or when placed in the starting position as a cockpit bench.

The boat has two rudders for steering and satisfactory places to get to the entrance to the salon. We can also describe the salon as very luxurious and spacious, comparing it to other charter boats. Boat salon can be accommodated all crew members. As a disadvantage in the salon, we must state that there is no separate space for the skipper of the so-called skipper table. Still, it is fitted into the central table in the salon. Of course, this flaw was noticed by the designers, the newer versions, they have already corrected this omission.

The kitchen is spacious with two medium-sized refrigerators. The Bavaria 46 Cruiser comes in four and three cab versions. Brilliant it is a bow cabin for 10 minutes you can turn a room with two cabins and vice versa. The bow cabins are much smaller than the heck cabins and have a shared toilet and a separate shower. While each heck cabin has its own bathroom with shower, which enters directly from the cabin.

The factory Bavaria 46 Cruiser is equipped with a 55HP Volvo Penta engine with Z-drive, with a cruising speed of 6,5 knots (depending on sea conditions). The boat has a capacity of 210 liters of fuel and three tanks of water with a total volume of 360 litres.

The overall rating of this Bavaria 46 Cruiser in our opinion would be 8/10. The advantages of this rating would indicate that it really serves what it is intended for, namely charter sailing. Its disadvantage, like any Bavaria, is its sailing characteristics, which we, as sailing fanatics, cannot pin down. So far, throughout the history of all Bavaria 46 Cruiser have met all the needs for charter sailing, we hope to continue new lines.
