SKIPPER TRAINING PROGRAM

 

1. Nautical navigation

- reading datas and labels from nautical navigation charts

- determing position and course of the boat

- planning and inscribing the route of the sailing

 

2. Sea safety and security measures

- review and usage of safety equipment and life- saving appliances

- taking security measures for crew, boat and the equipment

 

3. Maneuvering the boat

- set sail from the bond and sail into bond

- sail into bond with side of the ship

- maneuvers in case man overboard

- all the other maneuvers needed to feel safety and control in sailing the boat

 

4. Nautical radiophony

- using radio stations to communicate with other ships and marinas

- procedure in searching for help (MAY DAY, PAN PAN, SECURITE)

 

5. Sailing

- lifting and lowering of sails

- basics of sailing

- knots

 

6. Boat engines

- introduction to part of the engines

- safety control of the engine system

- detection of potential malfunction and repairing

 

7. Boat installations

- review and getting to know with the installations on the boat (water, electricity, heating, pumps, vents, accumulators, fuses, etc.)

 

8. Skippers ethics

- skippers responsibilities

- attitude towards the guests and the charter

- basic boat maintenance

- preparations for handover of the boat (check-in/check-out)
